Gamers may have been glued to the Xbox One announcement last night, but us TV fans were too, because the folks at Microsoft are teaming up with Steven Spielberg to turn 'Halo' into a TV series.

Yes, you read that right: The Oscar-winning director will help the company to develop a new television series based on the immensely popular gaming franchise. "Like all of you today, I’ve been playing games for decades" Spielberg told the crowd gathered via video message. "For me, the Halo universe is an amazing opportunity to be at the intersection where technology and myth-making meet."

Now, if you grew up in the 80s or 90s you'll be well used to video game to TV adaptations: Here's looking at you Sonic The Hedgehog and Super Mario. However, Nancy Tellem, the head of Microsoft's TV focused crew, said this TV show will be far more interactive than it's predecessors. 343 Industries(the company which developed Halo) studio head Bonnie Ross told the crowd that the new series gave them the perfect opportunity to combine "the storytelling magic of television with the interactive innovation of Xbox One". Hmmm, wonder what that means?

Anyway, we have to say we're rather excited to see what Steven does with the series, which will be available to watch on Xbox Live. Good luck getting anyone to turn the damn thing off now...
