Great news for Irish actress and comedian Sharon Horgan today as it's emerged her brand new series for Channel Four will be renewed for another season.

Catastrophe, which is just two episodes in at the moment, has received rave reviews so this will be welcome news to fans. If you haven't seen it yet, do it, you won't regret it.

Horgan co-wrote and stars in the comedy alongside Boston comedian Rob Delaney and it tells the story of an Irish woman and an American man who find themselves expecting a child after knowing each other for only a week. Queue some impressive performances from both and quality comedy writing.

It also stars Carrie Fisher as Rob's mother Mia, while Ashley Jensen (of Extras fame) stars as Sharon's friend Fran, and Mark Bonnar plays Fran's husband Chris.

Horgan is already committed as a showrunner on Sarah Jessica Parker's new HBO series (!), but she has previously said she would be happy to do both.

Channel 4's chief creative officer, Jay Hunt said: “Catastrophe is a real comedy gem. Sharon and Rob have done a magnificent job and we’re already looking forward to series 2”.

As are we!
