Forget Lady Bird, Fair City is where it's at if you want to see the Ronan family on screen this Spring.

(You should also go see Lady Bird though... it's really good).

Saoirse Ronan's dad, actor Paul Ronan, has landed a long-term role on the Irish soap and will make his debut in Carrigstown this March, according to the Irish Sun.

Paul will play Hayley and Harmony's (Rebecca Grimes and Eleanor O’Brien's) dad Anto Collins on the soap, while former Love/Hate actress Neilí Conroy will play their mother, Sharon.

The 52-year-old actor has already begun filming with the Collins family set to stir things up in Carrigstown over the coming months.

Paul Ronan has previously had roles in Love/Hate, Striking Out, The Tudors and Ballykissangel as well as on the silver screen starring alongside Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt in The Devil’s Own and with Kevin Spacey in Ordinary Decent Criminal.

Ronan will make his first appearance in an episode airing on Tuesday, March 6th when he turns up unexpectedly to see his daughters and is set for an explosive reunion with Conroy's character Sharon as well as a bit of a flirt with Carol.

Carrigstown won't know what hit it.
