If you're a child of the 1990s, chances are that 'Rugrats' was a regular feature in your house, alongside other Nickelodeon faves like 'Doug', 'Hey Arnold', 'Rocko's Modern Life' et al.
With some of those same shows enjoying successful reboots in recent years, the good news for fans of Chuckie, Tommy, Anjelica and co. is that the iconic cartoon series is being revived by the network for both a new series and a movie.
Nickelodeon has ordered 26 new episodes of the series - which first premiered in 1991 - and is also partnering with Paramount for a live-action movie. It's believed that the movie will incorporate CGI characters from the show, including all your faves - from the aforementioned Tommy and Chuckie to twins Phil and Lil.
Sarah Levy, president of the network, said: "Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures. What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can't wait for today's kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals."
The movie is set for release in November 2020 while production is already underway on the series, with more info TBC in the coming months.
