Congratulations, Nostalgia - you've finally done it.

Back in the mid to late '90s, Nickolodeon had a wave of success with its cartoons - or Nicktoons, as they were sometimes known. Ren And Stimpy, Angry Beavers, Hey Arnold! and, of course, Rugrats and Rocko's Modern Life. From these came the likes of Spongebob Squarepants and more, but these originals really kicked off the whole trend.

Nickolodeon and Paramount recently worked together to get Spongebob Squarepants out into the cinemas and, by all accounts, it worked a treat as both Spongebob movies did well with both the box office and with critics alike.

Reports have come in that Nickolodeon are planning an "Avengers"-style film, which would see the Rugrats gang, Ren and Stimpy, Arnold and his group and the entire cast of Nickolodeon's cartoons join forces for one big splash of a film.

The creators of each individual cartoon are in negotiation, with each of them reportedly adamant that their creations not become a bastardised cash-in.

It's kinda crazy to think how far studios are willing to push this whole '90s throwback thing. As we previously reported, Nintendo classic Mega Man is due for a big screen version and Metal Gear Solid is also headed for our local cinemas.

If we're doing '90s cartoons into feature films, how about somebody turn Gargoyles or M.A.S.K into one? That'd be amazing.
