We might not be able to head to our chosen music festival or gigs this year, but RTE have come up with an ingenious alternative for those longing for some live music.

A rake of stellar Irish acts will be performing live this July in a TV and radio special which has been given the name 'Songs from an Empty Room'. Broadcasting live on RTÉ2, RTÉ 2FM, and the RTÉ Player later this July, artists such as James Vincent McMorrrow, Picture This, Aimée, Mother DJs, Soulé, The Academic, and The Blizzards will be performing live from music venues across the country.

The one-off special will broadcast on all platforms from 8.30pm-10.45pm on Saturday, July 25 and will be hosted by Eoghan McDermott and Jenny Greene.

Some of the venues included in the line-up will be The Olympia Theatre in Dublin, Cyprus Avenue in Cork, Dolan’s in Limerick, INEC in Killarney and Roisin Dubh in Galway.

The full list of artists that will be performing on the 'Songs from an Empty Room' special are: Aimée, Denise Chaila, Eve Belle, Fia Moon, Gavin James, Jafaris, James Vincent McMorrow, Lisa McHugh, Lyra, Mother DJs, Noel Hogan from The Cranberries with Danny O’Reilly from The Coronas, Picture This, Sorcha Richardson, Soulé, The Academic, The Blizzards, The Coronas, and The Stunning.

The event is produced by EPIC - Event Production Industry Covid-19 Working Group - a cross-event working group representing the Live Events Sector formed to help the industry during the current crisis.
