In a statement Ross Kemp may already wish he didn't make, the Extreme World presenter has said he sometimes regrets leaving EastEnders. Kemp told The Mirror "I'm still happy doing what I do, but the older you get the less you want to be taking risks. There have been a few moments where I've thought, 'Why did I ever leave EastEnders?'
The actor left the soap back in 2006 and has never fully ruled out a return. He went on to say; "I'm already pushing my body to the limit. I'm not going to be able to do this in a few years' time. So maybe the comfy chair is beckoning. I've decided I want to be that boring old man who sits in the corner. At least I'll have some good stories to tell."
That he will - Kemp has since become one of Britain's most well-known investigative journalists for his work on shows like On Gangs and the current Extreme World. The documentaries have had him away from home for long periods of time for what can be very dangerous and life threatening expeditions. It's not easy to pick yourself up and go he says though; "It's always hard saying goodbye to my wife," he explained. "I try to be upbeat and tell her I'll see her in a month or six weeks, even though you know the dangers. You just have to do that."
"I miss my family dreadfully while I'm away. They have voiced their concerns, but they understand that's how I pay the bills and how fortunate I am to do something I am passionate about. They accept these things run their course and I won't be doing this for ever."
Don't know about you, but we think it's time he put his feet up on that comfy chair - just as long as that chair is in Albert Square and its plonked next to his older bro Phil Mitchell. We don't ask for much in fairness.
