The much-anticipated new Irish TV series 'Taken Down', from Stuart Carolan and the people who bought you 'Love/Hate', made its debut on RTÉ last night. The reactions so far seem to be mainly positive, particularly for how how the series is bringing attention to Direct Provision in Ireland.

The crime drama centres on Detective Jen Rooney (Lynn Rafferty - played Nadine in 'Love/Hate') who investigates the violent death of a young Nigerian migrant found abandoned close to a Direct Provision Centre, where refugees wait for political asylum.

The cast also includes Aissa Maiga ('Anything for Alice', 'Bianco e Nero'), Brian Gleeson ('Resistance', 'Phantom Thread'), Orla Fitzgerald ('The Young Offenders')
