So Kylie's hitchin up her little gold hotpants and heading back to a tellybox near you. Miss Minogue's among the first stars confirmed for Sky Arts' latest Playhouse Presents series.

She's due to star alongside comedian Peter Serafinowicz, Mathew Horne (Gavin off Gavin and Stacey) and Homeland's David Harewood in Hey Diddly Dee, a dark comedy centred around a play about Andy Warhol. We hear her character's a bit of an Edie Sedgwick type so we're sure she's been on the blower to Sienna Miller to get some top tips. Serafenowicz is charged with channeling Warhol while Marc Warren, former star of Hustle, is directing the whole thing.

Matt Smith's hopping out of the Tardis and heading behind the camera to make his directorial debut (they're never happy to do ONE thing well, are they?) with a drama which "mines the tragic seam of adolescent love and loss". Not one to watch alone on Valentine's Day then we'd assume. Cargese, written by Olivier Award-winning playwright Simon Stephen, is set in south London and features Submarine actor Craig Roberts. "Sky Arts offers creative opportunities that many other channels don't," Matt Smith said in a statement. "To collaborate with Simon Stephens in this capacity was a thrilling and rare opportunity, and one we both were keen to embrace."

Idris Elba, Anna Friel, Suranne Jones, Ricky Tomlinson and Vanessa Redgrave are also among the stars involved in the new series of Playhouse Presents. You can catch it on Sky Arts from March.
