The outfits of the different Doctor Who's down the years have pretty much become synonymous with the actors playing them. Matt Smith may have had his bow tie, but new doctor Peter Capaldi will have his Crombie coat with red lining, with some Dr Marten's boots thrown in for good measure. Won't make a bad Halloween costume 'ey?

Doctor Who's regeneration was the most-watched Christmas Day television moment in Britain last year with 10.2 million viewers seeing the five-minute sequence. Lifelong Dr Who fan Capaldi said: "He's woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics [...] No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100% rebel time lord."

Filming of the new 'Doctor Who' show began earlier this month, with Charlotte Moore, controller of BBC One, saying: "Peter Capaldi's Doctor is officially recorded in history today with the unveiling of his new costume. It's sharp, smart and stylish - The 12th time lord means business."
