Davidson was the butt of a couple of jokes throughout the episode, hosted by Jonah Hill. In his opening monologue, which featured a cameo by Candice Bergen and Drew Barrymore, Bergen referred to a drink she was having as a 'Pete Davidson'.
The drink, she said, "has a lot going on, but it gets the job done." Davidson himself threw a few self-digs during his 'Weekend Update' segment. The bit saw Davidson giving first impressions of Republican candidates, before doing himself.
"Look at me, I look like make vape juice in a bath-tub!", said Davidson. However, as the bit came to a close, Davidson faced the camera and announced that while people may be curious about the breakup, "it's nobody's business, and sometimes things don't work out, and that's OK."
"She's a wonderful, strong person, and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world."
