With a slew of announcements coming out of TV3 HQ in Ballymount today regarding the coming Autumn/Winter schedule for 2013, word turned to the possibility of the channel perhaps procuring the newly free agent that is Pat Kenny following his abrupt departure from RTÉ.

Speaking on this evenings The Last Word, TV3's Director of Content Jeff Ford admitted that the station 'would be silly not to' court the former RTÉ big wig following his departure from the national broadcaster. As to whether or not a formal offer has been made is anyone's guess, with Ford denying that any approach has been made towards the former Late Late Show presenter, but it does seem like a natural fit if Kenny wants to continue his work on television seeing as he previously joked that he doesn't think his Gaeilge ''is quite good enough to do something with TG4'.

We can only wait and see what happens, but could Tubs have a new Friday night rival in the form of his predecessor? Or, if Kenny does make a return to the telly, will it be more in the vein of his Frontline work, and possibly put Vin B out of a job? Somehow, we don't see that happening, but if TV3 want to put down the big bucks for him, they'll have to make cuts somewhere.
