Essentially, if you've shamed yourself in the extreme, there's only one last refuge. Oprah Winfrey's bosom. Or, if you're Tom Cruise, you can shame yourself on Oprah by violating her couch, and then invite her to your home a few years later so you can act, like, totally normal.
Chris Brown did it. Whitney Houston did it. And now Lance Armstrong is going to talk about his public fall from grace with the chat show stalwart, despite her OOOooOoooOOPRAH show not technically existing any more.
BBC News this morning reports that "Winfrey's OWN network said the 90-minute interview would address 'years of accusations of cheating'. Armstrong has maintained his innocence as he received a life ban from Usada. But the New York Times reported on Friday that the 41-year-old was considering a public admission that he used banned performance-enhancing drugs. An admission could lead to an apparent bid to return to competing in marathons and triathlons, the paper reported."
Oprah first tweeted about the interview from her account yesterday, and Armstrong retweeted it 15 minutes later.
If you want to watch Lance 'I only want to do the Tour de France one more time' Armstrong's interview with Oprah, you don't need to be stateside to watch it, for it will be broadcast next Thursday, January 17th, on Winfrey's OWN network and live-streamed online.
Personally I'd prefer to see him attempt to have a cycle off with Bradley Wiggins on a sheer French mountainside.
