'The Great British Bake Off' came to an end last night after ten weeks of tears, tasting tests and the odd toppling cake. Last night's final saw Kim-Joy, Ruby and Rahul competing to be crowned this year's 'Bake Off' winner, with Rahul ultimately claiming the title, however, some viewers were not all too happy about it.

While his final bakes proved successful, that was not always the case with Rahul serving up some unimpressive cakes in the quarter final. Some viewers felt that Ruby or Kim-Joy were far more deserving winners, but the judges' decision is final and they stood by their decision with Paul Hollywood saying of Rahul: "He is one of those characters that you will miss when you are not with him.

"You know his intensity sometimes is amazing, and he is so good at what he does, but I don't think he realises still how good he actually is and I think that's what's magic about Rahul."

While fellow judge Prue Leith added: "I think the amazing thing about Rahul and why I am so proud of him is that he came in unconfident, but he just kept going, and he never reined in his ambition.

"He always tried to do a bit more than everybody else, and it paid off."
