New soap on the way to our telly boxes soon for TV3. The station is set to spend millions on a home-made show to replace Emmerdale and Corrie in 2015. (They're off to what will be the new Irish UTV channel).

TV3 asked production companies in both the UK and Ireland to submit ideas for a new show with a Love/Hate vibe definitely top of the suggestions.

TV3's Head of Independent Productions Owen McArdle said: "The majority of the successful applicants have submitted precinct-style soaps based around the work of the gardai and the fire services."

It's also been hinted at that they will be looking towards soaps like Fair City for its cast and will go head to head with it time slot wise.

Could we really find a town where the likes of Nidge and Dermot Fahy can live side by side? Here's hoping!
