23 years after it first aired on British TV, 'Big Brother' is set to return for a new series later this year.

As revealed during the final of 'Love Island' last August, the reality show that kick-started them all is being revived and will be broadcast on UK TVs on ITVX and ITV2. While it has not yet been confirmed for an Irish TV broadcast, watch this space.

'Big Brother' originally ran on Channel 4 for ten years, before the rights to the show were acquired by Channel 5, who broadcast it until 2018.

Now, it is being revived once again by ITV, with new hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best taking the reins from its last host, Emma Willis. They will share hosting duties both in the main house and on its nightly companion live show, which will debate and discuss the day's occurrences.

A new bunch of housemates will enter the house for six weeks "later this year", with 'The Big Breakfast' host Odudu saying "I’m so excited to finally be able to say that, yes: I’m hosting Big Brother! I couldn't be happier. Following in the footsteps of some of my favourite broadcasting legends to front such an iconic show is an absolute honour - and to do it alongside my amazing friend Will is the icing on the cake."

Best - who has hosted 'Dance, Dance, Dance' for ITV as well as other shows on E4 and BBC Three - said “I grew up with Big Brother, so getting a chance to host it with my mate AJ is a dream come true. I can't wait to tell some housemates not to swear."

If the teaser below is anything to go by, ITV are retaining some of the show's previous trademarks, including the theme music.

Casting for the show, meanwhile, is currently underway - and if you fancy your chances yourself, you can apply via www.bigbrother.com.

A broadcast date has not yet been confirmed, but we'll share the news as we get it.
