Variety reports that Pascal, who previously starred in Netflix's 'Narcos' and HBO's 'Game of Thrones', will play the titular Mandalorian. The series will be set in the time period between 'Return of the Jedi' and 'The Force Awakens'.
Jon Favreau has penned the script and overall story for the first series, with 'Clone Wars' creator / director Dave Filoni set to helm the first episode. 'Thor: Ragnarok' director Taika Waititi is also lined up to direct, along with Bryce Dallas Howard.
'The Mandalorian' is a key part of Disney's strategy for their rival streaming service, Disney+. As well as 'The Mandalorian', another live-action TV series based on Diego Luna's character from 'Rogue One' was also announced for the service.
No air date has been set for 'The Mandalorian' as of yet.
