It's been 27 seasons coming, but Waylon Smithers Jr. is set to reveal his sexuality at last.

If you didn't have an inkling about his sexual orientation by now, you might need to have your gaydar fixed.

Speaking to TVLine magazine, Al Jean, an executive producer on the show, said that the bombshell will be dropped over the space of a two episode special.

“In Springfield now, most people know he’s gay, but obviously Burns doesn’t," said Jean.

“We deal with that in two episodes. We actually do a lot with Smithers this year; he gets fed up with Burns not appreciating him and considers his options.”

The character's voice actor, Harry Shearer, also plays the role of Mr. Burns, as well as Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner, almost left the show earlier this year before some last minute negotiations saved the deal, which will reportedly see him earn $300,000 per episode.

Thankfully they got that sorted, and now it looks like they're going to make the most of his services with this double episode special
