Staying in this weekend? Here's three picks for movies on TV this weekend.

Friday - Film4

23.10 - Basic Instinct

Yes, the film with Sharon Stone's genitalia crop up for a split second. No, we're not recommending it for that reason. Basic Instinct is actually a so-bad-it's-good film, which is something Paul Verhoeven kind of excelled in during his American phase, and it's also got some of the best and cheesiest dialogue you'll hear. Not only that, the cinematography from Jan DeBont - who'd later go on to direct Speed - is pretty spectacular.

Saturday - RTE One

21.40 - Bridesmaids

Kristin Wiig plays one of the titular bridesmaids to Maya Rudolph in this 2011 smash-hit comedy about, well, bridesmaids. But before you go rolling your eyes thinking it's another bog-standard chick flick, think again. Loaded to the brim with a plethora of comedy talents (including our very own Chris O'Dowd), this Paul Feig-directed and Judd Apatow-produced film is one of the best comedies to happen in the last 10 years. If you've somehow managed to miss this at every other opportunity, park yourself on the couch and prepare for all the laughs in the world. Trust us, no matter what your ails, you'll feel better after watching this (just maybe not around your parents, unless you're a fan of awkwardness).

Sunday - RTE One

21.30 - Admission

Tina Fey and Paul Rudd star in this drama about a stringent admissions officer who visits an experimental school run by her college friend to meet and interview a potentially gifted student. However, upon talking to the child, she begins to suspect that it could be the child she gave up for adoption years ago, forcing her to rethink her life - as well as putting her career on the line to help. While it's definitely not Tina Fey or Paul Rudd's best film, it did show that Fey and Rudd were capable of going into more serious roles.
