Staying in this weekend? Looking for something to watch? Here's three movies you should check out this weekend.

Friday - 21.40

RTE 2 - The Counsellor

Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt and Penelope Cruz star in this luxuriant and semi-baffling crime drama about a lawyer (Fassbender) who gets involved with a drug-smuggling deal as a way to ease his debt problems. However, when the deal goes wrong, the parties involved soon come after him with bloody consequences. Not for everyone, but if you can get a handle on it, The Counsellor's an interesting watch.

Saturday - 21.15

RTE 2 - Into The Storm

Who doesn't love a good tornado film? Sure, everyone says Twister, but Into The Storm is a delightfully stupid throwback to mid-'90s disaster film that blends it with found-footage to create something that's entertaining and silly in equal measure. Richard Armitage plays a principal whose graduating class gets caught up in one of the worst storms in recorded history. To make matters worse, there's crews of storm-chasers and TV crews in the town who are complicating things. It's daft and loud, but doesn't take itself seriously.

Sunday - 21.30

RTE One - The Queen

This movie bagged Helen Mirren an Oscar for her role as Queen Elizabeth in a drama that examines the events surrounding the death of Princess Diana, who died tragically in 1997 in a car crash in Paris. It particularly focuses in on the relationship between the monarch and Prime Minister Tony Blair, played by Michael Sheen, as they struggle to reach a compromise in dealing with the situation. A great watch that can't help feel like we are getting a fly-on-the-wall look at the actual Queen's life.
