Planning a quiet weekend after the bank holiday? Here's the best movies on the box you can watch.

FRIDAY - E4 - 9pm

Bridesmaids

If you haven't seen Bridesmaids before, you're in for a treat. It stars the hilarious Kristen Wiig who gets the task of Maid of Honour at her best friend's wedding. However, her efforts soon turn into utter chaos as she realises she must compete with fellow bridesmaid (and the wife of the groom's boss) who is just so irritatingly perfect (Rose Byrne). Chris O'Dowd also made his very successful Hollywood movie debut in this flick too, but as anyone who's seen it knows, the highlight has to be Melissa McCarthy's character Megan, who just steals the show every time she appears.

SATURDAY - RTE2 - 9.35pm

Salt

In a role originally intended for one Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie plays Evelyn Salt, a Russian sleeper agent who's infiltrated the CIA. When a defector names her, Salt must go on the run to protect herself and evade capture. But what else is going on? What are Russia up to? And what's up with Liev Schrieber? Often deliriously silly, Salt is nevertheless raucously entertaining.

SUNDAY - RTE One - 9.30pm

Standby

A lovely little Irish rom com of a Sunday with the feel of a Richard Curtis classic. Twenty-something year-old Alan (Brian Gleeson) feels very much stuck in his life. He is working at Dublin airport as a tourist advisor alongside his mother and lives with his father. However, one day while he is working, Alan comes across his American ex-girlfriend Alice (Mad Men’s Jessica Paré), who he convinces to go out for a night on the town with him in the city centre. With all the surprises in store for both parties, this will be a night neither is going to forget.
