The end is almost nigh for young Tina McIntyre on Coronation Street, as tonight we will see her pushed off the building site's balcony by an, as of yet, unidentified culprit. The actress has been voted sexiest female six years in a row on the soap as well as being part of some of its biggest storylines, most notably her current affair with Peter Barlow.
Were you watching last night by the by? Total heartbreak for Tina as she realises that Peter and Carla were having a baby together, and he had very much toddled her up the garden path. And that smack from Rita? Bless us.
Anyways, the actress has long since finished filming her final scenes on the street and has her sights set on moving on to bigger and better things. She told Radio Times; "I'm having more training, which I'm doing for confidence. I've been playing one character for over six years and I need to refresh. So I'm having one-to-one classes and some dialect coaching for accents."
She added: “I've got a very strong Manchester accent and it can be easier to get a part if you're able to neutralise it."
When asked what she would like do next the actress said; “I want to do some more TV, because the thought of going out on to a stage petrifies me. I'd like to do something with Ricky Gervais - I love his sense of humour and his writing. And I've always wanted to do a period drama.”
So big plans for the future has our Tina, and in fairness, actors have often had fairly decent careers after Corrie, with Katherine Kelly (Becky) now hanging out with Mr Selfridge and that Suranne Jones pops up everywhere too.
Here's hoping it won't be long until Michelle is back on our screens again, with or without Ricky Gervais. Until then, watch her final scenes tonight on Corrie at 9pm on TV3.
