Meghan Markle's half-sister, Samantha Markle-Grant, is joining this season of 'Celebrity Big Brother' when it kicks off next month.

The fame-hungry daughter of Thomas Markle Sr. and Roslyn Markle nee Loveless is the Duchess of Sussex's paternal half-sister and has been estranged from her for over a decade. Indeed, Samantha Grant-Markle had no involvement with the recent wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, or her previous wedding to producer Trevor Engelson.

Rumours have been flying for the past week about the expected lineup for the new series, with names such as 'Queer Eye' breakout star Jonathan Van Ness and former S Club 7 member Paul Cattermole being mentioned as possible contestants. Stormy Daniels was also rumoured at one point, although no confirmation has been forthcoming from Channel 5 on any of the contestants so far.

Samantha Grant-Markle, however, is the first to confirm her involvement in the series and did so on the US tabloid news programme 'Inside Edition' two days ago. The programme also claimed that Grant-Markle is earning a six-figure sum for her troubles. When asked why she was doing it, Grant-Markle was pretty blunt about it.

"Why not? Life is about cashing in. You take opportunities as they arise and hopefully, you enjoy the ride and you make it as positive as you can."

'Celebrity Big Brother' kicks off on August 17th.
