If you were a big fan of M*A*S*H back in the day, you'll most likely remember Allan Arbus as psychiatrist Dr Sidney Freedman. He was quite the character, so we're rather sad to report that the veteran actor has died. Arbus' daughter Amy told the New York Times that her father passed away on Friday April 19th at his home in Los Angeles. He had been battling with congestive heart failure at the time of his death. Believe it or not, he was 95 years old.

We may, as we've said already, remember him best as the wisecracking psychiatrist, but Arbus had an extensive career, that really only began when he was in his 40s. He popped up on numerous US TV series, including Matlock, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Law and Order, and Judging Amy. He even killed Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr, in the 1972 movie Greaser's Palace.

Arbus was married to world renouned photographer Diane Arbus, and though the couple separated in 1956, they remained good friends until Diane took her own life in 1971. He is survived by his second wife, actress Mariclare Costello, and his children Arin, Amy and Doon.

RIP
