If there's one thing that the success of Gone Girl has thought us, it's that psychotic women with axes to grind are still box office.

Those of a certain age will recall Glenn Close going all broken biscuits on Michael Douglas and coining the phrase 'Bunny Boiler' in Fatal Attraction, and now they're making a TV show based on the format of the 1987 thriller.

According to THR Mad Men writers Maria and Andre Jacquemetton are working on the 'Event Series' for Fox, who have The X-Files arriving in a similar format come January. It basically means it's 7 or 8 episodes as opposed to a full season - 22 or so.

There's no word on casting just yet, but the fact that it's a shorter format means they might attract bigger names for the run.
