The last few weeks of this year's 'Love Island' were almost insufferable; not least due to Luca's surface level frustration since Gemma insisted on waiting until her beau met the family and got their approval before making things official. But now, we can all breathe a sigh of exaltation — he's only gone and done it, he's asked her to be his girlfriend and, spoiler, she said yes.

After yamming on for what felt like half this year's season of 'Love Island' about making Gemma his girlfriend, runner up Luca Bish has finally popped the question after getting the Owen family's stamp of approval.

Armed with a ginormous bouquet of roses, Luca has shown the world that love isn't dead — and actually, it's really good content. He videoed the whole thing and posted it to his Instagram there on Monday. Swoon.

The clip is so masterfully edited, it wouldn't have been out of place on the actual show as a final date. It shows an inordinate amount of roses, rose petals, and rose bushes guiding the path towards two giant pillars made of, yep you guessed it, roses.

A cello strums beside the pair as the red balloons floating atop the private, outdoor pool read "Will you be my girlfriend?". Next Luca presents Gemma with a Cartier bag and inside is a gorgeous gold bracelet. They share a kiss and presumably, the answer is yes.

Luca captioned the video 'Finally' and in the comments below, his fellow islanders have expressed the same sentiment. Andrew Le Page commented 'About Time' and Ikenna says "finally !!". Davide wrote "Was about time, congrats".

Gemma shared some photographs from the night to her Instagram too which we've included in the header, with the caption "Finally official. Thank you @lucabish for such a special night!". Jeez, we can't imagine how high the standard would be if an engagement was on the cards.

What do you make of the girlfriend proposal?
