'Love Island' 2021 came to an end this week and what a season it was.
There was romance and heartbreak for all the 'Love Island' contestants.
But it all worked out and we ended up with four very loved up finalist couples.
Millie and Liam were ultimately the winners.
But here's what the runner ups had to say.
You came second on this year’s Love Island. How does that feel?
Chloe: I thought it was amazing. Best thing ever. Especially to be in the final with Millie & Liam. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.
Toby: I think when you’re on your journey, when you meet someone, you don’t think about the final. So being there was surreal, and being second was the cherry on the top of the cake. Because everything after finding Chloe was just a bonus.
You’ve mentioned marriage on the show Chloe - how soon are you hoping the proposal is going to be?
Chloe: Like imminently
Toby: [To Chloe] You’re going to be proposing
Chloe: I would never!
Toby: She’s going to have to pop the question if she wants to pop it and then see if she’s gonna get the right answer or what…
Is marriage something you see in your future Toby?
Toby: I wanna be married in the future, yeah definitely.
So you are leaving as boyfriend and girlfriend. Chloe how did that feel when Toby asked you that during his speech?
Chloe: It was my favourite moment I think as I didn’t see it coming and it was like the nicest speech ever so I thought it was great. And then when he said it I was like, ‘Oh my god!’ I didn’t think he would do it. We hadn’t spoken about it. I don’t know if you’ve noticed we’re not very good at the serious chat situations.
Toby: I was thinking about it for time. For time! I was thinking, ‘Should I do it, when to do it?’ Everything. I was thinking on the final date, and then I was thinking ‘Hmm nah.’
Chloe: Faye and Teddy did it [on their final date] and I made a comment when they came back, ‘Oh if anyone else becomes boyfriend and girlfriend, it’s copying!’
Toby: Yeah, so I was like no chance now! So the next chance was that time and I thought, ‘You know what, in a love declaration – let’s end it with that!’
Toby, there has been a bit of attention on your head turning in the villa. Where’s your head at now?
Toby: Well I’m in a relationship now, it’s a different status. I’ve got tunnel vision and I only see one way. I don’t see 360 anymore so… I can only see straight, I can’t turn to the left and right anymore – that’s my capabilities.
And Chloe, you’ve said this is the best relationship you’ve had. What makes it different to other relationships?
Chloe: Because all we do is laugh or snog and that’s all you want in a relationship. And sometimes a bit of a serious chat. But if not- laughing and snogging that’s all you need!
Toby what would you say was the biggest thing you’ve learnt since being on Love Island?
Toby: Oh my gosh. That girls think very differently to boys! Yeah… about everything! If you think it’s alright, it’s probably not alright.
What are your thoughts on Millie and Liam as the winners?
Chloe: I love that they won! I absolutely love it. Rightfully so! If it wasn’t us, we would like it to be them.
Toby: [We’re] the awesome foursome, so we got to represent for us.
Chloe: Yeah we’re over the moon they won!
And can you see them going the distance, in the real world?
Chloe: 100%, 1 million percent. I can’t see them with anyone else to be honest.
Toby: One MILLIAM percent!
And when you’re getting married in the Love Island villa will Millie be your Maid of Honour?
Chloe: 100% And Liam can officiate!
Will you have Liam performing some Sir Tom Jones?
Chloe: Yes we will! Yes we will.
Do you plan to live together?
Chloe: I’m going home for a bit and then I think I’m going to move to Essex with some of the girls. That’s the plan.
Toby: Well I’m in Essex, she says she’s moving to Essex so… it all worked out for me in the end!
First of all, how does it feel now that your Love Island journey has come to an end?
Faye: It’s sweet that we’re going home and we get to enjoy each other properly but also it’s sad because it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and now it’s over.
Teddy: We always said that no matter what was going to happen with our Love Island journey we’ve got our own journey to consider when we get outside of the villa as well. All in all we do kind of feel, as well, as though we’ve just come a long way. A long long way.
Looking back on both of your Love Island experiences, how would you sum it up?
Faye: Mine has been an amazing journey with Teddy and he’s taught me a lot about myself. I’ve also learnt a lot about myself through the whole experience and journey from start to finish. The only way you can get anywhere in life and to be able to be happy with someone is to be
able to let your guard down and be vulnerable. As hard as that may be. This experience has definitely taught me that.
Teddy: It’s been more than I would have asked for and expected. No regrets from what I’ve done and where we’ve come from in the villa; from the beginning all the way through to the end. It’s taught me how vulnerable I can be and I think it’s very important for all men to tap into that side of themselves as opposed to kind of just being macho and running away from
situations.
Teddy, you arrived at the villa as a bombshell and we saw you go on dates with some of the girls. Did you have your sights set on Faye from those dates?
Teddy: Faye was always, if I’m honest, top two. In terms of just looks alone. Then when it came to personality it was just here, she was top one!
Faye: Who was your second one of the two?!
Teddy: In terms looks I thought Lucinda was good looking.
Faye: Shock! She was beautiful.
Teddy: [With Faye] there were sparks straight away. Having conversations, taking the mick out of each other and whatnot – it just felt natural. It felt easy.
And Faye, did you feel instantly drawn to Teddy?
Faye: I instantly was drawn to Teddy. I thought he was SO FIT! I obviously had three girls to fight over him with, I was one of four, all fighting for Teddy, and I can’t flirt to save my own life so I just strategically placed myself around the villa and it seemed to work, didn’t it?
Teddy: It did work!
Faye: My Love Island journey started when Teddy walked in and what a journey it’s been!
Since you reconciled, it appears you’ve been going from strength to strength. What is it about your relationship that works?
Faye: I’m so fiery and Teddy is so cool. He is the coolest guy I know and I’m so fiery. He chills me out.
Teddy: I’m the ice to her fire to be honest! Overall we have so much fun together, we take the p*** out of each other and we have our affectionate moments. We’ve got such a fine balance. Even the arguing, I think that’s healthy in every relationship. It’s just how you deal with it.
Faye: That’s why when we made up I said to him I can’t sit here and promise you that that won’t happen again because I can’t say that I won’t argue and I won’t shout. That’s not something that’s in me. I am a fiery person. Obviously, I know how to deal with things better now.
You guys live quite far away from each other, what do you think is next for you?
Faye: We have spoken about it and I think we will likely get a place together but I will probably still spend two, three nights - depending on schedules at work - in Devon. Teddy will still have his own space, to be able to see friends, family but it will be our place and we will still spend time apart until we want to be with each other fully. I think that’s our next step.
Teddy: I think it just depends on how she deals with being away from me!
Faye: Depends on how I get on in London, let’s be honest! I’m a Devon girl. And I say to Teddy all the time – as long as I’m near a pasty shop and there’s a good pint of cider I should be able to cope for a couple of days a week! You can take the girl out of Devon but you can’t take the Devon out of the girl. Also, we’re going to get Teddy some wellies and he’s going to come down to Devon.
Teddy: Personally when we’ve spoken about it I’m really open to Devon, anywhere in the UK that gets me closer to Faye.
Faye: We’re going to make it work!
What do you both think about Liam and Millie winning the series?
Faye: I wasn’t surprised in the slightest. They are worthy winners. That’s a relationship that’s been tested to the absolute max and they’ve come back from the brink. What a beautiful couple, inside and out. They are amazing.
Teddy: Worthy winners as Faye said and when he made her his girlfriend it just showed exactly where they’re at as a couple. Loved it. Loved to see it.
How does it feel now that your Love Island journey has come to an end?
Tyler: It’s a surreal feeling. That’s all we’ve known for all of these weeks. To not wake up in the morning and see your friends and not waking up to make the coffees - it’s going to be weird! I’ve had the best time and wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m sad it’s come to an end but it’s the beginning of us on the outside.
Kaz: Echoing what Tyler said, I can only describe it as surreal. I went into the Villa and it was rocky but neither of us would change our experience, we had the best time. It’s sad it’s come to an end because it’s quite nice to be in the sun in a bikini! I’m not really looking forward to putting an actual jacket on. However, when I do put that jacket on, we’ll be doing fun stuff
outside of here so for that reason I’m excited. As much as the Love Island journey is over, our actual journey together just begins.
How would you both describe your Love Island experience?
Kaz: I would describe it as a wholesome experience. I walked in on day one and left on the last day. I've grown a lot as a person and I’ve met so many lovely people. I went in there wanting to find a connection with someone and I’ve walked out with a connection with someone even stronger than what I expected it to be so I’d describe it as wholesome. I think I accomplished everything!
Tyler: I stayed true to myself and I have no regrets. I feel as a couple we’ve come out the other end from the things that did happen and I think that we were stronger for it. The main thing is that we have no regrets as a couple and I wouldn’t change the journey for anything.
Kaz, what was it like walking through those doors for the first time eight weeks ago?
Kaz: When I got out of the jeep I was in front of Libby and I met Libby for the first time and we instantly connected. We got along so well and were literally best friends. Neither of us could pop the champagne bottle, there were so many nerves but so much excitement and it went by so fast but felt like it was happening in slow motion at the same time.
Tyler you then entered the Villa and it appeared that you had your sights firmly set on Kaz. What was it about Kaz that attracted you to her?
Tyler: Not mentioning the obvious - she's a stunning girl! What attracted me the most was how warm and bubbly she was. She’s sassy and she’s funny and that’s what was really getting me. I’m looking for something long-term and I look for longevity, Looks can fade and it’s personality that keeps you around. I wanted someone that I could vibe with and bounce off. It worked out for the best.
Tyler we then saw you ask Kaz to be exclusive in a Love Actually-inspired way. Was it important to you to do something special for Kaz?
Tyler: 100%. With our relationship, we’re never serious, we’re always playing games and always bantering. We never really had a chat about where we were or how we felt. For me, it was a case of doing something special for Kaz and in the style that she could appreciate. I was racking my brains for a long time and we came up with the whole romcom thing. I had
limited resources but I did my best with the hand towels and would it be fair to say you appreciated it?
Kaz: I loved it! It was literally perfect.
Tyler: I wanted to show Kaz how serious I was. We were at a crossroads of what we were doing next. I wanted to give her that clarity that I wanted to be exclusive. We said we were going to give each other 100%. I wanted to be serious at that moment and put my own little spin on it and luckily she said yes!
How did you both feel about making the Love Island Final?
Kaz: If someone told me on day one that I’d make the Final, I’d be like ‘you’re joking’. Making the actual Final and the realisation of it was really cool and really exciting - you appreciate it. It made me appreciate our journey even more. I was seeing it from beginning to end.
Tyler: I was surprised and I wasn’t expecting it. It was a nice surprise. I didn’t think I was going to make it at all considering the things I’d been through. I managed to get there in the end and it’s such a nice feeling to know the public are backing you. It was the cherry on top because I came in here and found what I was looking for in you [Kaz] and it’s nice to know
the public are seeing that and supporting us.
What is next for you both as a couple?
Tyler: We’re really close, I’m in South London and you’re in Essex, we’re just down the road. We’re in our own little bubble and we’re on the same page and we know where we are going and it is towards the boyfriend and girlfriend.
Kaz: I like it when he says it out loud!
Tyler: It’s definitely on the cards but we want to get it right. We wanted to come out and do it properly and we’re doing it at our pace.
Kaz, you and Liberty seemed to have a really special friendship. How did you feel about Liberty leaving the Villa?
Kaz: Liberty and I clicked from the very first day. We walked in together and our friendship blossomed from there. I feel like our friendship formed the minute we held hands and walked in. When she explained to me the situation and how she felt, honestly I had nothing but the utmost respect for her because it takes a lot to admit your feelings and be really set in a decision like that, especially so close to the Final. She is so genuine. It broke my heart knowing she never found that special connection that I think she deserves. I was trying to be strong when she was leaving but when we went to terrace and I was in tears. Overall, I am proud of her and she stood her ground and followed her gut and trusted her intuition. She is very strong-minded and independent and it seeps through. She is one of the most selfless people I have ever met and she deserves so much love.
What did you think about Liam and Millie winning the series?
Kaz: We love Milliam!
Tyler: We were not surprised! We love Milliam, they are one in a Milliam. I was so happy and excited - I couldn’t contain myself, I was hugging Liam so tight! They really deserve it, they have been through so much. They were made for each other.
Kaz: When they had the first kiss on the swing - it was the sexiest snog I’d ever seen in my life! They have such strong sexual chemistry, however everything else is so much stronger, you can see it. They were always looking for each other in the Villa.
Tyler: They were inseparable. You honestly had to book an appointment to see Liam! They’re a perfect match for each other and I am so happy they have gone on to win.
