As we close in on the finale of Westworld's first season, it's fair to say that the new HBO series has been getting something of a mixed reaction online.

Although early reviews were definitely positive (and we thought the first three episodes were pretty great), it does seem that more than a few people have been switching off because, well, it's not really going anywhere yet. In any case, HBO seem to be more than positive about it all and are tenatively working towards a second season.

In a recent interview with Variety, HBO's head of original programming Casey Bloys said that it's looking good for another season of Westworld. "I want to get a very complete picture of the ratings, which seem to be doing very well, so we’re happy with that. (The executive producers are) going to talk to us about what they envision a second season being. But right now I would say it’s looking really good. We’re very pleased with how it’s doing."

Westworld had the biggest opening episode debut since True Detective for HBO, with an average of around 1.5 million US viewers each Sunday. With four episodes left of the current season, the signs appear to be positive for a second one and will most likely be announced in the coming weeks.

But for now, we have to wait. What have you made of Westworld so far? Is it living up to the hype? Let us know in the comments!
