Transporting us to the far and distant plains of Africa for one night only, this year's 'Toy Show' theme has finally been unveiled hours before kick-off.

Tonight's extra-special 'Late Late Toy Show' theme is one of the most beloved Disney films, 'The Lion King'.

Ryan Tubridy and a tribe of young performers and toy testers are ready to go wild for the biggest night on the TV calendar for the latest edition of the Irish staple.

After a year where children were restricted in play and socialising with their friends, they will get a very special invitation to step into the sun as the theme of this year’s 'Late Late Toy Show' takes inspiration from the Disney classic.

The night looks set to live the Hakuna Matata "no worries" philosophy with children ruling the jungle in the studio and at home, as toy testers and performers will flock from all corners of Ireland. The youngest cub this year to appear on our screens will be aged just four years old; we're already getting ready for what will surely be an emotional and equally hilarious night.

As always, Ryan and 'The Late Late Toy Show' elves will have a few surprise delicacies up their sleeves - but if any special guests are going to be making an appearance we'll just have to wait until tonight to find out.

Some of the top toys this year includes Fidgets, Pop-its and a Labradoodle called Moji - find out what all of these words mean on tonight's show.

Ryan Tubridy said of this year's edition: "Everyone has been locked up for a long time and that’s why we need to head out into the wild and join our friends in 'The Lion King'. This isn’t just a theme; it is a movement.

"Every child can leave the house and leave the room and leave the kitchen and roam free in the jungle of their families because they are the boss tonight. So, it is the future, it is wild, and it is beautiful. Join us in the jungle, we will see you tonight."

We're sure the night will be problem-free with 'The Lion King' philosophy in mind (although when the night doesn't go according to plan, it makes for pure TV gold). Tonight's show will also feature not one, but two musical performances from Ryan and his cast of dancers and singers.

If you're going to be tuning into the 'Toy Show' and its theme of 'The Lion King' tonight, but you're outside of Ireland, here's all the details you need to see it all unfold if you live abroad.

The 2021 edition of 'The Late Late Toy Show' kicks off tonight at 9.35 pm.
