Dublin comedian Jason Byrne has managed to catch the attention of Sky 1 and will co-host a new entertainment programme for the channel along with Kate Humble called Wild Things. It's quite the coup for the Dublin man as it will be his first hosting gig over in Britain, although he did star in the BBC series Father Figure last year.

Jason Byrne commented: “I’m really proud to be a part of Wild Things, one of the funniest and ‘funnest’ shows I’ve ever worked on. It’s not often I cry laughing at a badger bashing a duck while an owl bowls them over to the ground. But then again, who wouldn’t find that funny? That’s the magic of Wild Things; even the hardest heart will laugh loudly at this show.”

The show itself features teams (pairs of relations or couples) undertaking a range of challenges on a gigantic woodland obstacle course in order to get the chance to walk away with a fortune in gold coins buried deep within the Wild Wood. One of the team members however must dress up as a woodland animal meaning that they will not only look ridiculous but they won't see a thing, so they will need to be guided by their partner to victory. All sounds like a bit of craic really!

Adam MacDonald, Sky 1 Channel Director, commented: “We’re chuffed to be welcoming both Jason and Katie to the channel to anchor the utterly bonkers and hilarious Wild Things. The show is like nothing we’ve seen before – with a blend of giant woodland creatures, bickering couples and pots of gold; it’s a big daft slice of genius.”

The six-part series will air on Sky 1 in 2015.
