In news that would shock pretty much nobody, a new survey by TAM Ireland confirms that more Irish people than ever are watching TV. The survey concludes that Irish people, on average, are watching approximately three and a half hours of TV every day - which is an increase in 14 minutes from the previous survey. We're guessing that down to the 'Next on Game of Thrones / Halt & Catch Fire / Homeland etc...'

One of the interesting things in the survey was about what kind of TV we're watching. Although on-demand services like Netflix, UPC Horizon and Sky are all becoming increasingly popular, 92% of people are still watching shows that are aired live. TV itself is still the most popular way to watch television, with a mere 5.5% watching TV on their laptop and a measly 1.6% watching on their smartphones.

Not surprisingly, the World Cup has played a huge part in the figures. A whopping 298,140 people tuned in to watch the games between June 23rd to June 29th, whilst 266,130 were watching the GAA at the same time period. No figures are available as to how many watch the Game of Thrones finale in Ireland, but we're guessing it's in the millions.
