Believe it or not, the idea of a woman making the marriage proposal on February 29th - sometimes called Bachelor's Day - is solely an Irish tradition.

Nobody's really sure where it came from, with some positing that it came from a deal struck by St. Bridget and St. Patrick. Anyway, this morning saw 'Ireland AM' take off to the suburbs of Dublin where Maria Kelly proposed to her boyfriend of six years, Bryan Geraghty, live on television.

By all accounts, Bryan looked pretty taken aback by the cameras and had no clue what was going in the first place. In fact, 'Ireland AM' host Laura Woods specifically said that she was a finalist in a competition, hence the cameras.

Thankfully for everyone watching live, Bryan said yes and the couple shared the moment together. Here's how it all went down.
