The current wave of fascination with true crime documentaries has led to the huge success of the likes of Making a Murderer, The Jinx and most recently, The Keepers, however Channel 4 are putting their own slant on the genre tonight with their 90-minute documentary, Catching a Killer.

It will follow the story of police's search for Natalie Hemming in the summer of 2016 from the very first moment she was reported missing, right up to the when the killer was caught.

The programme will feature no talking heads and no hindsight interviews rather it will give viewers a rare insight into the actual procedure involved when a case like this is reported, with documentary maker Anna Hall following Thames Valley detectives from day one.

Set to be gripping yet heartbreaking, viewers are warned this won't be an easy watch, but it's already billed as one of the best one-off programmes of 2017.

Catching a Killer airs tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
