RTE's latest songwriting TV series, The Hit, will air this July. Presented by Nicky Byrne and Aidan Power we will see songwriters fight it out to have their song crowned as Ireland's Ultimate Hit.

Each episode of the show will see six songwriters pitch their songs to two established artists.The two artists then produce one song each and perform them on the live show. This is where you become involved. It is then up to the audience to decide which is the best song as both songs are available for download immediately after the performance.The winner is then decided by which song has had the most downloads and then goes forward to the grand final due to take place in August.

The finalists will then get a chance to see will be performed with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and viewers will choose the song of the series, making it the ultimate hit.
