We loved Homeland as much as the next person those first few seasons but does it really have a fifth season in it? It's been approved for one anyways as Showtime have announced it has commissioned another series of the hit show, along with a second series of The Affair.

The network's president, David Nevins, said in a statement that the drama has "brilliantly reinvented itself" in its fourth season. Going on to say; "Homeland continues to capture the attention of a devoted fan base, and has provided an enviable platform for the successful launch of The Affair.

"With thought-provoking, relevant and addictive storylines, both series have been embraced, dissected and much debated week after week. We're excited to see more from these complex shows in 2015."

The current series of Homeland is airing on RTE2 at the moment and in fairness things are ticking along nicely, and Danes is certainly holding her own without Damian Lewis. Although it's still not afraid to go out on the limb with some cringe inducing scenes at times... Carrie seducing that young lad? We'll never be able to un-see that.

They are also expanding more on some of the main characters too with this series which is working quite well too, particularly with Peter. Also, we have seen very little of the cry face, although can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing...

Well it doesn't matter what we think really, as whether you like it or not, another season of the show will be on our screens in 2015.

We know Carrie, we know.
