80's horror movie fans, our time to celebrate is upon us as there's an incredible new TV series based on a classic to get excited about.

A 'Hellraiser' TV series is on the way, and we can't wait to see what HBO have up their sleeves. Based on 'The Hellbound Heart' by Clive Barker, the TV series will have ample opportunity to develop the roles of extra-dimensional beings The Cenobites, headed by pincushion-looking villain Pinhead.

The reboot series has been in development for a while now, and HBO have finally announced the names that are attached to the bill. The long-awaited news has been worth the wait, as director David Gordon Green will develop as well as direct episodes of the new series. No casting has been announced as of yet.

Gordon Green was famed for bringing a very decent 'Halloween' entry to cinemas in 2018. He's also been working on sequels to the movie, with 'Halloween Kills' in post-production and 'Halloween Ends' recently announced. He'll be joined by writers  Mark Verheiden and Michael Dougherty, who have worked on the likes of 'Daredevil' and 'Trick r' Treat' in the past.

With no less than nine 'Hellraiser' movies being released as part of the franchise, the series is expected to not be classed as a reboot as such, but rather an expanded series of everything we've seen thus far.

Interestingly, this 'Hellraiser' TV series may not be the next time we see Pinhead in a more recent reboot. Deadline reports that production company Spyglass also has a separate 'Hellraiser' movie project in production of late, meaning that the future is looking bright (or dark) for fans of the original.

Here's a clip from the original 1987 movie to get you excited about what's to come from the HBO series.
