Bane is making his debut in the fifth and final season of Fox's TV series 'Gotham' with Shane West ('Nikita', 'Salem' but most importantly, 'A Walk to Remember') set to take on the role which was previously played by Tom Hardy in 'The Dark Knight Rises'.

'Gotham' revealed the first look at the character this week though and fans are not all that impressed.

Bane will be introduced to the TV series, which is a prequel of sorts, as Eduardo Dorrance, a former Army friend of Jim Gordon’s (Ben McKenzie), who is gradually transformed into the supervillain.

'Gotham's Bane was described by showrunner John Stephens as: "Very, very strong, and very angry … we made him integral to the fact of coming in as a special ops government agent."

While Stephens said of season 5: "We pick up at the top of season five, at the conclusion of No Man’s Land, Day 365. Then, we cycle backwards to day 87, three months into No Man’s Land where Jim has created his green zone and wants his reunification. We're catching up, and for the first nine episodes, we're always catching up to that first scene we see."

The producers have also stated that "the fifth and final season will wrap up this unique origin story of the great DC Comics Super-villains and vigilantes, which revealed an entirely new chapter that has never been told."

Season 5 arrives on Fox in 2019 and likely on E4 over this side of the pond.
