Is this just a part of the DENNIS System?

He's Demonstrated Value throughout his time on It's Always Sunny, but now it looks like Glenn Howerton's skipped ahead and is getting ready to Neglect Emotionally - or, at the very least, try to make us all understand why he isn't confirming or denying his return to It's Always Sunny.

A number of articles sourced out of an EW piece - including this one from NME - circulated online last night stating that Howerton had confirmed his return to the long-running sitcom, however it now looks like this isn't the case as such.

In a lengthy Twitter thread, Howerton clarified his statements and said that it's POSSIBLE he's coming back. Here's the thread in full.

The inference seems to be that Glenn Howerton is still an active member of the show, whether as a writer or director, but that the decision to bring back Dennis - the character he plays - is up in the air. Moreover, Howerton rightly points out that Dennis' return - or lack thereof - is a major plot point in the next season.

So, yeah, why should he have to clarify any of that? Isn't the fun of watching it to find out whether he does or doesn't come back to the bar?
