Former host of the Late Late Show Gay Byrne was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital yesterday following a heart attack.

The legendary broadcaster, who turned 81 in August, is now said to be recovering well. A statement released by RTE said that his "his friends and colleagues across RTE are thinking of him and wish him all the best with his recovery."

Gay, who is currently working on a new series of The Meaning Of Life, spent most of Christmas surrounded by friends and family. The statement added that his family wishes for privacy during his recovery.

Here's to a speedy recovery, Uncle Gaybo.
