Would Orange Is The New Black do what we all want it to do and storm all the available categories for actress and comedy? Would True Detective be honoured for being the great show and major highlight of TV in 2014 that it is? Would Breaking Bad get the send off it deserves? Well it all went down in LA today as Mindy Kaling and Carson Daly revealed the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards Nominations in California.

The Emmy nominations have rolled around again, and having been entertained by some of the best television shows ever produced over the last year, we’re glad to see that our favourites made the cut and there is now no need for us to riot on the streets of Los Angeles. We would need a flight to L.A. first, of course, but that’s for a later date.

Modern Family, having won Best Comedy over the last four years, is in the mix again, and could be on course to make history with a fifth win, however, it faces very stiff competition in a category that is surprisingly strong this year, with Louie, Orange is the New Black of Netflix fame and perennial favourite The Big Bang Theory in the mix as well.

As usual, the Outstanding Drama category is also packed with quality and fan favourites, so don't expect there to be an easy choice made between Breaking Bad, which got the final nod everyone expected it would get, and Netflix favourite House of Cards. Considering that last year was the first time a Netflix series even got a nomination, the streaming platform can view the last 12 months as having been pretty successful, and this year's haul of nominations (13 for House of Cards and 12 for Orange is the New Black) will make some very pleasant reading for them.

Overall Game of Thrones ended up with 19 nominations, followed closely by Fargo on 18, while Breaking Bad ended up with 16. The full list of Emmy Awards nominees for this year is as follows:
