David Crane, one of the co-creators of ‘Friends’ (as any true fan should know, he created the show with Marta Kauffman), has revealed whether the show’s most famous on-again off-again couple, Rachel Green and Ross Geller, would still be together.
The show saw Ross pine for Rachel for years and after dating and breaking up, they got married, divorced, and had a baby together. The series finale, which aired in 2004 (yes, it really has been over for that many years), saw them finally proclaim their love for one another and reunite once and for all.
Or so we hoped.
Speaking at a panel for The Wrap at the Landmark Theatre in Los Angeles, David Crane was asked: “In your opinion, Ross and Rachel, how are they doing? Are they still together, do you think that’s sustainable” Namely, did the crazy kids work it out?
It’s good news as Crane replied: “Yes. Come on, they worked really hard, ten years.”
Yay! Love wins! (Even if certain people think Rachel and Joey should have been end game).
The interviewer also asked if Chandler and Monica are “still good?” to which Crane answered: “Absolutely.”
While there’s been hopes and talk of a reboot or ‘Friends’ movie (from die-hard fans as opposed to the cast and crew), Crane was quick to say there’s no chance of it happening.
“Never happening. Never. We did it! It’s done,” Crane said definitively. “That’s why you don’t want to see more of it, because it’s all a happy ending.”
Mind you, with reboots being so popular at the moment (even when they end up imploding, as happened with ‘Roseanne’), the question of ‘Friends’ being revived is likely to come up again.
