There's a catch; your mother will have to organise the wedding. Bit tricky if you don't have one.

Not content with largely patronising the male populace with Don't Tell The Bride, RTE are now looking for fodder to compete in a "new" show - The Mother of All Weddings.

RTE.ie states: "RTÉ, Animo TV and Kite Entertainment want to hear from couples interested in taking part in their new show The Mother of All Weddings, in which the bride- and groom-to-be hand over the entire planning of their big day to their mothers - and have a free, five-star honeymoon in Dubai… Those interested in taking part should send their details, and explain why they want to feature on the show, to: [email protected]."

Dubai, can I please. If you, like myself, happen not to have a mother and find yourself unable to apply, try to make do with going on honeymoon somewhere under 40 degrees Celsius with greenery as far as the eye can see.

Sticking with new RTE shows, they're also looking for participants for something called Six in the City. It features six couples in different parts of the country competing to host the best night out. So its kind of like TV3's Battle of the Bridesmaids, but with couples.

"The couple will need to live in or near Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Waterford, Kilkenny, Newry, Lisburn, Belfast, Armagh or Derry, be over the age of 23 and be free to spend four days shooting the expenses paid nights out over the last three weekends in July… The deadline for Applications is Monday, July 9, so if you and your other half think that you can host the best night out, apply or get further information now at - [email protected]."

Your potential prize for this? A bespoke European city break, specially tailored to your interests. So lots of pubs then.
