If you're still catching up on season 17 of the medical drama, or don't want to find out who makes a return, then please note *HUGE SPOILERS LIE AHEAD*.

Continuing her tragic COVID-19 diagnosis this new season of 'Grey's Anatomy', Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) is visited by another ghost from her past during her dream sequences.

Just to reiterate, FULL SPOILERS FOR SEASON 17 BELOW.

In case you weren't already aware, Derek (played by Patrick Dempsey) reappeared on this season, five years after exiting the show. The character was one of the main cast of the medial series from its inception right up until season 11, where he was killed in a car crash.

But now that Meredith is fighting for her life in the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, her dreams have been bringing certain characters back for a guest appearance. And so, Derek made a return for the season premiere, to overwhelming joy from fans of the series. But he's not the only ghost from her past that has showed up.

During the fourth episode, which aired over in the States just last night, the one and only George O'Malley (played by T. R. Knight) was brought back in a very touching yet surprising moment. The last we had heard of his character, he was involved in a horrific bus accident. The actor exited the series after season five.

Seen leaning onto the railing of a lifeguard tower on the beach, Meredith tells George, "I was devastated when you died," and the two reminisce about the past.

The return of these ghosts from Meredith's past are so that fans find a new lease of joy in this incredibly heavy season 17. Will there be others set to make appearances down the line? We'll have to wait and see.
