Spoiler Alert! If you haven’t seen seasons 1 and 2, don’t read on but you can catch up on both seasons on Sky Box Sets now. The much-anticipated season three of The Affair is only a matter of weeks away, arriving on Sky Atlantic on November 21st, and fans have been eagerly awaiting to see the outcome of that dramatic season two finale. So what do we know so far?

There's a time jump - which is good news really, considering we didn't really fancy an entire season of Dominic West in prison following his shocking admission at the murder trial of Scott Lockhart. The story has now moved on three years, where Noah (Dominic West) is now attempting to start his life all over again. From what we know so far, prison will not have treated him kindly, and if the season three trailer is anything to go by, he still holds a candle for Allison (Ruth Wilson)... and it seems Helen (Maura Tierney) is still pining after him. So their love lives are as messy as ever really.

To add to the mess, Noah is set to start teaching in a university and has a new love interest - a professor, played by Irene Jacob, who specializes in French romance and courtship. Apt.

Elsewhere, Cole Lockhart (Joshua Jackson) initially seems to be doing well and has settled down with Luisa (Catalina Sandino Moreno) while still raising his child (or who he thinks is his child) with Allison. However, the latter rocks up out of nowhere and causes more Allison-style complications in his life.

Speaking of, it looks like all Allison really wants is her daughter, but Cole and Luisa won't be making it too easy for her.

One thing we are all dying to know is, what actually happened the night Scotty died - was it really Noah, or perhaps Cole killed his brother after finding out he slept with Allison?

There was also rumours that Brendan Fraser would be making somewhat of a career comeback with a recurring role in season three, although there have been no details yet on what character he will play.

It's safe to say though, if season one and season two are anything to go by, there will be many twists and turns, and it's anyone's guess as to who it will eventually end up with whom.
