The new series of 'Gogglebox Ireland' kicked off last night but this time around instead of focusing on recent telly, the show had the country's favourite armchair critics look back at the TV the nation was watching in the '80s and '90s.

Highlights included Miley and Fidelma's infamous role in the hay in 'Glenroe', the spine-tingling performance of 'Riverdance' at the Eurovision, and the 1994 Calor Housewife of the Year competition which was so cringe some of the Goggleboxers just couldn't cope with it at all.

There was also a clip from Boyzone's famous beginnings on 'The Late Late Show' (which no doubt Shane Lynch was delighted about) as well as a reminder of a 'Prayer at Bedtime' and how RTÉ would close out every day of television with the national anthem.

Seriously, how did we not realise how weird this all was at the time?!

Oh well, makes for TV gold now.
