Martin Short has been on the promotional circuit for more than a few years.
In fact, Martin Short has been around long enough to see late-night talk shows go from the heady days of Johnny Carson through to the manic energy of David Letterman's pre-'Late Show' era, and all the way through to the cannibalised YouTube sketches that they're at now. And through it all, Martin Short has mercilessly skewered any late-night talk show host that's crossed his path.
His latest skewering has been none other than Jimmy Fallon, and kicked off his interview by starting at with Fallon himself. "James Thomas Fallon, my god, your name screams out diversity!" It went from there to implying that Fallon was at the controversial Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tournament and hung out with Mohammed Bin Salman, and that Fallon was a member of the Proud Boys. "In fact, tell everyone what you were telling me about how the Proud Boys is so much more than a club, what did you mean by that?"
It didn't stop with Fallon, however. When asked about his 'Only Murders In The Building' co-star Steve Martin and what he learned about him from being on tour with him, Short said that his co-star "will pay top dollar for clean urine." Of course, even when Fallon tried to turn things a little bit back towards normalcy, by bringing up Short's recent Emmy nominations for the hit show, Short went off the wall once again. "If someone had told me 20 years ago that I would be on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon with all these Emmy nominations, I would have said, ‘Jimmy Fallon?’”
