We've been loving David Tennant in ITV drama Broadchurch, but now it looks as though he's heading back to the BBC with Billie Piper for a bit of Doctor Who action. Yep, it has finally been confirmed that the pair will both star in the upcoming Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special.

The last time we saw Billie and David on screen together was January 2010. The Who fans among you will remember 'The End of Time', the episode in which the Time Lord regenerated into his current incarnation. Indeed, it really has been almost four years since Matt Smith became number 11. Poor Rose, she lost her potential fella (they were adorable together) and her job as a companion not long after.

Anyway, BBC made the big reveal via Twitter, dropping pictures of the pair on the show's official account (@bbcdoctorwho), accompanied by #DoctorWho50th. Sure doesn't everyone tell us everything via the Twitter Machine these days... We were equally excited to hear that John Hurt is attached to the project, though there's no word on who he'll be playing just yet.

Filming for the 50th Anniversary Special is scheduled to start this week, and we hear it might even find its way to a limited selection of cinemas... You'll hear more about it when we do.
