The Greg Davies and Alex Horne comedy series has revealed its line-up for its upcoming season.
TV presenter and comedian Dara Ó Briain is set to join 'Taskmaster' on Channel 4 for season 14 of the hit show.
Surprisingly, this is the first time that the Wicklow-born comic will appear on the celebrity competition series, following in the footsteps of other Irish stars such as Aisling Bea, Nicola Coughlan and Ardal O'Hanlon. The latter most recently took part in season 13, losing out on the winning title to Sophie Duker.
'Taskmaster' sees celebrities and comedians complete rather ordinary tasks, but in an extremely pressurised environment - such as having to paint a horse while on a horse, or they have to try and lasso Horne with a rope. It's all a little silly and makes for side-splitting entertainment (especially when they get frustrated).
Joining Ó Briain for the newest season of the series will be comedian Sarah Millican, comic John Kearns, Scottish stand-up comedian Fern Brady, with presenter and content creator Munya Chawawa rounding out the cast.
Dara Ó Briain retweeted the 'Taskmaster' news, saying: "Oh, and this got announced. It is quite a thing. Can’t wait for you to see it."
As well as doing stand-up, Ó Briain has taken to presenting various TV series in the UK over the past few years, including a 'Blockbuster' revival as well as the 'Robot Wars' reboot. He's most famous for presenting the celebrity panel show 'Mock the Week'. At the moment, he's currently in the middle of touring his stand-up show 'So... Where Were We?'.
News of the season 14 line-up comes after the one-off special 'Taskmaster Champion Of Champions' aired last night. Five former champions (Kerry Godliman, Ed Gamble, Lou Sanders, Richard Herring and Liza Tarbuck) competed against each-other to be crowned the secend-ever winner of such a special. In the end, it was *SPOILER* Herring who took home the prize, joining Josh Widdicombe in the 'COC' Hall of Fame.
