You know it's January when a new series of (mostly) Irish celebrities, a few has-beens and several who-are-theys? don sequins and begin throwing themselves around a dancefloor.

The first episode of the new series of 'Dancing with the Stars' kicked off on RTE last night, with some familiar faces on board including former newsreader Eileen Dunne, and model/influencer Rosanna Davison.

Other names competing this year include Virgin Media presenter Katja Mia, 'Fair City' actor Shane Murphy Quigley, former 'Mrs. Brown's Boys' actor Rory Cowan, former Paralympian Jason Smyth and TikTok influencer Miriam Mullins.

The first episode saw drag queen Blu Hydrangea and her dance partner Simone top the leaderboard with 24 points after performing the Cha-cha-cha, while Cowan and his dance partner Jillian came last with 11 points after dancing the Charleston.
