Well now, didn't Sue do well for herself post-Corrie? The former Royle Family star has landed a role in one of TV's most popular period drama's Downton Abbey, with the part specially written for her. How cool is that?
The actress will play Denker, Lady’s Maid to Violet, Dowager Countess of Grantham in the fifth season of Downton. Speaking about her casting Johnston said: “I’m delighted and very excited to be a part of Downton Abbey. I have some lovely friends in it that I’ll be so happy to be working with and I cannot wait to start filming.”
Johnston played Gloria Price in Corrie up until February this year, when her character did a runner with Rita's husband Dennis (he's since come crawling back, the divil). We had hoped she would make her way back to the cobbles again but if she's getting roles written for her in the likes of Downton Abbey we may be a long time waiting!
